2000 NIRA Super4 class rules clarification

I still don't understand how everyone thinks that a motor swap into a civic chassis is going to rule the day on cars that have to have a full interior and run on "DOT class" street tires. Sure I have seen some obsenely quick all motor cars but they weigh 1900 lbs! Put everything back in (radio, full interior, AC, power steering, etc...) and lets see what they run. If you think I can't make more power with a SC than a all motor car you are out of your mind. It will be down to who can get the power to the ground really in my mind since both cars will have a good deal of weight on the ground. You agree??

1fstGSR...You dont have to be super light to be fast...and as far as DOT aproved tires go....have you seen the MT ET Drag tires...those things are pratically slicks!!..Im not bragging here...or trying to start an argument...but there are some fast hybrids out there...and since the majority of the JRSCer's are in the 13's...I think they are going to have some competition from all the Hybrids out there

let me tell you the car that is going to dominate that class.

Honda CRX HF(1fstgsr...that car is 1900lbs STOCK)built hybrid all motor. These cars were running mid 12's here in NJ last year. you think you can handle one of doz? again...this was last year...and just slap on some drag radials and he's gonna smoke. I wish you guys luck...i'm just saying dominate is out of the question.

i do agree with you highly on one point. suspension setup...tire pressures...and driver mean more then power in lots of cases. so....its going to be interesting.

Mid 12's? Yeah mid 12's will be easy. I am shooting for High 11's. When I am done I should be putting out around 300 WHP rough tune. With a DFI should be more, but we will see. Motor's are coming so stay tuned As far as the Hybrids putting more than 230-240 WHP to the ground? Yeah they do at 9200-9300 RPM's but they have to launch way way up there to get good short times. I am really looking forward to the season, win or lose

I spoke to Paul Brandner at the NIRA tech line tonight...and asked him about the way the motor swap rule was stated...and if my car a Civic with a B18C1 could run in that class....he said it will be able to run in that class...I explained to him that the way the rule is stated on the website right now...that you could only do like a 1.6SOHC into say a cx or dx....he said to me what person in there right mind would want to do that?? ...he said if the rule is stated wrong...he would look into having it corrected...and he reassured me that I could run in the Super4 class...and that if anyone said that I couldnt...to come and talk to him personally he would be at the event in West Palm Beach

Oh and by the way the current Super Street(March2000) has the new 2000 Nira rules in it on page 138..and if you look in the Super4 section...the rule is phrased there differently than the website...I think the website had a misprint??
